2024 Africa Scientifique Programme Schedule

The 2024 Africa Scientifique Programme was delivered in a number of Phases, with the expansion of the programme to include Honours students from the University of Venda (UNIVEN) and the Walter Sisulu University (WSU). This expansion will enable the programme to benefit more Universities in South Africa.

  • Phase 1: Introduction to the Africa Scientifique Programme –
    • In person – Mini-Workshop for the AIMS South Africa’s young and
      emerging researchers and academics – 23rd February 2024
    • Online – 2 x Mini-Workshop for Honours students at the Universities of Venda and Walter Sisulu, separately – 9th April 2024
  • Phase 2Africa Scientifique Workshop delivered over 3 days, including the participation of selected Honours students from UNIVEN and WSU – (17 – 19) April 2024
  • Phase 3: Six-months Post-Workshop Mentoring & Project Activities’ Support The post-workshop programmatic framework of Africa Scientifique will involve mentoring and support to the AIMS South Africa’s young and emerging researchers and academics in the planning, delivery and the monitoring and evaluation of their practical public engagement activities, over a six-month period following the Phase 2 workshop. This will also include the participation of the selected Honours students from UNIVEN and WSU. The 6-Months Post- Workshop Mentoring dates are from May to October 2024.

African Gong has been delivering the innovative and transformative Africa Scientifique Science Communication Capacity-building Programme, in partnership with AIMS for the benefit of AIMS South Africa Researchers, Students and Academics, since 2020.
