Inaugural Africa Scientifique Programme

The Inaugural Africa Scientifique Workshop is being delivered by African Gong within a partnership framework with the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS South Africa), based on the MOU that both organisations have undertaken as a means of confirming their commitment to work in a strategic partnership across three outlined programmatic frameworks, one of which is the Africa Scientifique programme. In this regard, African Gong is committed to ensuring that the programme delivered is tailor-made to fit with and address the specific requirements, gaps and challenges of AIMS South Africa’s young and emerging researchers and academics.

Inaugural Programme Schedule

The Inaugural Africa Scientifique Workshop will be delivered in a number of stages:

  • Stage 1: Introduction to the Africa Scientifique Programme – Online Webinar for the AIMS South Africa’s young and emerging researchers and academics – 22 nd July 2020
  • Stage 2: Africa Scientifique Workshop programme delivered over 3 days – (28 – 30) September 2020
  • Stage 3: Six-months Post-Workshop Mentoring & Project
    Activities’ Support The post-workshop programmatic framework of Africa Scientifique will involve mentoring and support to the AIMS South Africa’s young and emerging researchers and academics in the planning, delivery and the monitoring and evaluation of their practical public engagement activities, over a six-month period following the Stage 2 workshop.
  • Ms. Mangakane Karabo Makola – Talking about the imperatives for African researchers to communicate their research with the public, work with science journalists to promote scientific literacy, and the critical role of the Africa Scientifique Programme in equipping them with the skills and knowledge for this vital undertaking.
